Significant Factor(s):

I kept my bait slow and truly concentrated on each cast. Landed many fish that night including a 6.6lber a couple of hours later.

The Story:

Well I was working down a rock ledge throwing my jig up to the bank and working it all the way down to 18ft of water. My 2 buddies were in the back of the boat and I was in front running my trolling motor because of all the wind. Had the boat positioned towards the wind and allowed it to push me down the bank with the trolling motor keeping me at a slow speed. Threw my jig out worked it down very slowly and would pull it off a rock and shake it. Didn't know right off I had a fish because it was so dark. I never felt it bite just happened to see my line out a little further from the bank than I thought it should be and I set the hook. I was using Power Pro at night so it's hard to see. Didn't think fish was that big until I got it in the boat and pulled out the scale. Unfortunately I did not get to release this fish immiately afterwards because I wanted a picture and it was dark. I put the fish in the livewell and kept water pumping in and fished 2 more hours until daylight and snapped the picture and let it go.

Comments:

The fish lived to be caught another day.
