Significant Factor(s):

This smallmouth bass was a Pre-Spawn fish. The water temperature was in the very low 50s. I forced myself to fish as slow as I could, and then to slow down. I was letting the jerkbait to sit motionless for between 10 to 20 seconds. Because of this slow cadence, I used Kick-N-Bass Crawfish scent on the bait.

The Story:

I was fishing a typical pre-spawn smallmouth bass pattern, a suspending jerkbait over structure near deepwater. The water was fairly murky (about 2 foot visibility). Because of this, I choose a Gold/Black Lucky Craft Pointer 100. This bait has a fairly wide side to side wobble and displaces alot of water. The fish took about a minute to land. The water was cold and it did not jump. After landing the fish, I weighed it and immediately let it go. It was a beautiful fish.
